Task 1

Introduction

This portion of the assignment has specifically focused upon the ways, through which, the principles of support are implemented in health and social care practice. This task has also thrown light upon the approaches that can be applied for the purpose of providing protection to the clients, patients, as well as colleagues from any form of risk. A discussion relating to the positive sides of person-centered approach and its application upon care user has been included and along with this the ethical dilemmas that hinder care workers from extending appropriate care to the service users has also been explained.

1.1 Explain how principles of support are applied to ensure that individuals are cared for in health and social care practice.

The main principle or objective of the health and social care practices is to offer support to the service users in healthcare centers. The health and social care centers must implement the principle of support in an effective in order to maintain as well as assure the better health and well-being of the service users. One of the most important principles of health and social care practices is to establish diversity and equality by the care workers while treating and medicating the patients and service users In this regard, it is crucial for the healthcare practitioners to respect the personality and rights of the service users or the patients. Similarly, it is observed that the culture and beliefs vary with person to person. There are wide numbers of service users and patients whose beliefs and culture is diverse and therefore, it is the responsibility of the care workers to respect the culture and beliefs of the patients or service users who visit the health care units. Subsequently, the patients have the full authority to make their own decision so the care workers must respect their rights and ensure that that the policies of the health care centers are implemented effectively (Maclean, 2007).

HND Assignment Help

The care workers are mainly close to the patients and as a result, they can effortlessly access their personal information. In order to deal with such incidence, it is crucial for the care workers in the health care units to maintain the confidentiality of the service users along with ensuring proper secrecy while conducting their duties (Maclean, 2007). Moreover, the principle of health and care practices also comprises of proper recording and formatting data relating to the health and mentality of the service users and patients. A proper care must be taken while dealing with information regarding the health and mentality of the patients so as to ensure that no information can be disclosed to the irrelevant authorities (Maclean, 2007). Thus, it is very beneficial to maintain the principle of support as it is immensely advantageous for the health care workers while treating and medicating the patients or service users within the health and care centers.

1.2 Outline the procedure for protecting clients, patients, and colleagues from harm

For protecting the patients, clients, and colleagues with any type of mishap or harm within the health and care centers, there are different ways which can be implemented by the care practitioners. The maintenance and promotion of the patient’s health along with keeping them safe is assumed to be the most important objectives of a health and social care organisation. It is the sole duty of the health care practitioners to ensure the safeguarding of the patients, staffs, colleagues, etc within their care centers (Chan, 2010). For performing the same in an effective manner some of the vital procedures are stated as follows:

  1. Developing and applying policies:

Framing and implementing any policy  is one of the most significant methods in order to ensure safety and security of the clients, staffs, and colleagues within the care units. The efficient health care policies assist in providing clear directions and instructions regarding the job responsibility so as to eradicate the discrepancies and chaos within the care practitioners (Chan, 2010). Thus, developing and significant implementation of the policies can result in a major procedure for ensuring the safety and security of different stakeholder of health care units (Chan, 2010).

  1. Personalized care planning:

Every health care unit are comprised of certain patients who need special care and attention so as to avoid organizational and personal harm. In such scenarios, it is the major responsibility of every health care personnel to have the guidance of personalized care planning in order to ensure adequate safety and security of different stakeholders who are engaged within the health and social care centers such as patients, clients, staffs and other colleagues (Glaser and Salzberg, 2011).

  1. Risk evaluation and management:

Risk evaluation and management are one of the major processes of ensuring the safety and security of different stakeholders engaged within the health care centers such as patients, clients, staffs and other colleagues. The entire process of risk evaluation comprises of different tasks for recognizing the potential risks within the healthcare centersSome risks that are related with health and social care are headache, asthma and bronchitis problem. Some problems that can attack the patient suddenly are heart attack, cancer and many major and vital disease.

1.3 Analyze the benefit of following a person-centered approach with users of health and social care services

There is a huge significance of implementing the person-centered approach while engaging with the patients or other clients. A person-centered approach can be considered as the vital process of assisting and accomplishing the needs and wants of the clients engaged with the health care units. There are different advantages of implementing the person-centered approach within the healthcare centers (Ladd and Churchill, 2012). If the health care centers effectively follow the person-centered approach, it will assist in making the clients more persuaded so that they can make effective decisions after sternly preserving their privacy and dignity. This particular approach has a significant role in satisfying the needs and wants of the patients and service users through ensuring optimal care for them. The needs and wants of the service users or patients are fulfilled and achieved in this respective process along with considering the sense of individuality in regard to their health and well-begin (Ladd and Churchill, 2012).

The respective approach has a significant role in treating the patient’s mental, physical, psychological as well as emotional health in an efficient manner. Apart from this, the person-centered approach also assists the health care personnel in performing their assigned job in a more appropriate manner because after implementing this approach, the patients or service users co-operate efficiently with the care workers (Chan, Berven and Thomas, 2004). Subsequently, the person-centered approach also assists in establishing efficient communication among the health care staffs or personnel and the patients. The proficient communication process assists in improving the level of confidence of the patients if their inquiries are resolved in a significant manner. Therefore, it is very clear that the person-centered approach is highly advantageous for health care practitioners as well as patients or service users (Chan, Berven and Thomas, 2004). On the other hand, if the health care centers unable to implement the person-centered approach effectively, it is difficult for the care practitioners to operate efficiently and offer quality service to the patients (Stavans, 2010).

1.4 Explain ethical dilemmas and conflict that may arise when providing care, support, and protection to users of health and social care services

Ethical dilemmas are common in the health care centers as it comprises of various types of patients who are mentally or physically challenged. It can be described as peculiar conditions in which it is difficult to resolve a vital problem, as it may be unacceptable to the other party engaged in the conflicts. The majority of the ethical dilemmas generally occur in those situations in which the solution of a respective issue can be made in such a manners which are unacceptable for both or individual parties engaged in the conflicts (Smith, Ladd and Pasquerella, 2008).

The conflicts generally arise within the health care units due to the ineffective handling or management of the confidential information associated with the patients and service gathered by care personnel. However, the revelation of different information associated with the patients to the family members will be advantageous for both the relatives as well as service users. The revelation of information to different people other than the relatives of the patient and the doctor can become very risky for the patient and this disclosure will sometime risk the life of the patient. Generally, the ethical dilemmas or conflicts arises in critical circumstances such as confidentiality or privacy, care workers-patients relationship, collective decision making, resource allocations, etc (Smith, Ladd and Pasquerella, 2008) Some famous dilemmas that are mostly related with the issue of the health and social care are:

  • When is the correct time to disclose the information of the patient?
  • How to distribute the resources of care in a proper way?
  • Should the lifestyle choices are affect the rights of the patient of receiving the proper care?
  • What is the proper way to resolve the problem between the professional value and the personal value?

Conclusion

The health and social care centers must implement the principle of support in an effective in order to maintain as well as assure the better health and well-being of the service users. It is important to establish diversity and equality by the care workers while treating and medicating the patients and service users. At the same time, the care workers are required to respect the choices of the patients and maintain confidentiality of their information. The task has also explained about the approaches such as, personalized care planning, risk management, risk evaluation in order to protect the service users. The discussion has also highlighted the ways, through which person centered approaches encourages better communication and provision of specialized care to the service users. The task also thrown light upon the ethical dilemmas that hinder a service provider from providing effective services.

2.1 Explain the implementation of policies, legislation, regulations, and codes of practice that are relevant to own work in health and social care

The operations of the health and social care centers in the UK are significantly impacted by the different types of the legislations. It is crucial for the Health and social care organization to strictly obey all the prescribed legislations in order to perform the different operations of the health care units without any discrepancies. The major legislations are stated as follows:

  1. Equality Act 2010:

The new reforms and movements that has been launched on the 1st of April in the field of health and social care is dramatic. In this regard, it can be assured that policies towards services are developed and applied by different care units in accordance with the requirements and objectives of the patients. The duties, responsibilities, and roles of the management of the concerned organization are the major elements during the development of the policies and procedures

When any disentangle policies are being constructed, it is important for the people to look after some of the most important and procedure that are related with the local decision. The policy, legislations, regulations, and code of practices for the different organization are significant in the United Kingdom. There is a huge impact of such policies, legislations, regulations, code of practices on the health care centers especially during the development of the organizational policies. It mainly influences the internal policies of the health care units (Humphreys, 2010). The implementation of different provisions with the assistance of various legislations like the Equality Act 2010, Data Protection Act, Health and Social Care Act, etc will allow the concerned organization in representing that proposed provisions are efficiently followed according to the regulatory requirements (Humphreys, 2010). Those legislations also assist the health care centers in maintaining uniformity in regards to the process if efficient decision making and conducting its operations (Humphreys, 2010).

The inclusion of the different regulatory requirements, code of practices, procedures, etc in the internal policies and strategies of the concerned organization will impact the organization’s efficiency in dealing with the various operational discrepancies efficiently and determine the same in less time (Humphreys, 2010). The development of the appropriate plans and policies by the St. Vincent House Care Home will enable the organization in assuring the operating procedures. Not only that, but those policy, legislations, regulations, and code of practices also assist in ensuring the increased level of answerability and improved capability for evaluating the entire performance of the health care centres. The St. Vincent House Care Home has well developed and very famous hospitals that provide proper care and the various policies that are being implemented in this hospital are suitable for the proper functioning of the hospital and the treatment of he patient.  (Humphreys, 2010).

Task 3

Introduction

This portion of the paper has thrown light upon the different theories that underpin the different practices and approaches applied by the health and social care sector. This portion of the paper has also focused upon different social approaches that affect the quality of service provided and the service users as well. This task has also discussed i8mportance and effectiveness of inter-professional working.

3.1 Explain the theories that underpin health and social care practice

The health and social care practices are highly influenced by different types of theories. These theories have huge significance in the development of the appropriate plan for improving the lifestyles of the patients or service users and helping them in establishing the higher degree of social, physical, emotional and psychological health. In that context, various theories are discussed below:

  1. Cognitive theory:
  • The main motive of this theory is to satisfy the peoples and for this they do their best like taking of good care, time table of medicine, less expensive etc.

3.2 Analyze how social processes impact on users of health and social care services

In the recent past trends in the health and social care service, it is observed that the social processes have huge influences on such organizations. The social processes can be considered as the methods that are applied with the motive to promote interaction and develop frameworks of relationships (Rodrigues and Glendinning, 2014). There are different kinds of service users in the concerned organization who belongs to the diverse social background. A huge numbers of patients have witnessed division with their family members whereas the majority of the patients are witnessing unemployment, poverty, etc. In such circumstances, the application of social processes will assist the care personnel for satisfying the needs and requirements of different patients Like the expenses in hospital and the medicines are less expensive and they may give some patients some medicines also, giving them proper care etc.

The different impacts of social processes are:

  1. Assimilation:The impact is they want the social welfare or welfare or ociety this is mainly done by the government for poor peoples.
  2. Intermixing:This is mainly seen in the poor people because they are very religiositic so that they do all these things.

3.3 Evaluate the effectiveness of inter-professional working

The inter-professional working is considered as a vital element in the health and social care practices. It indicates the provisions of care by huge numbers of health care personnel to perform jointly in order to provide high-quality services in the health care centers. Thus, the inter-professional working will also be beneficial for the service users at Health and social care organisation(Atwal and Jones, 2009). It ensures various types of benefits like the condition of increased health care services, accomplishing the better health of the service users, provision for appropriate attention and care to such service users who are witnessing multiple diseases. Not only that, but inter-professional working is also helping in resolving the issues of competition or conflicts among the service users due to the anticipated and timely services of the patients (Atwal and Jones, 2009).

Some of the persons in that hospitals are very professional means they are not involve them in words or emotions of the people because  they thought that this is their work so that is why they have to behave professionally.

Conclusion

This task has highlighted the ingredients of different social theories such as, psycho dynamic theory, cognitive theory, social theory etc. and their impact upon the provision of health and social care services. The task has also highlighted the effect of social process upon the provision of health and social care services and at the same time the paper has also discussed about the benefits of inter-professional working, it indicates the provisions of care by huge numbers of health care personnel to perform jointly in order to provide high-quality services in the health care centers. Thus, the inter-professional working will also be beneficial for the service users at Health and social care organisation.

Task 4

Introduction

This portion of the discussion has emphasized upon the role of a health care worker to contribute towards the development and implementation of health care policies in a health and social care setting. The task has also provided certain recommendation to strengthen the role of a health care worker towards conducting the above functions.

4.1 Explain own role, responsibilities, accountabilities, and duties in the context of working with those within and outside the health and social care workplace

The employees of the health and the social care organization have to deal with many kinds of duties and errands. So, it has been observed that the Health and social care organisationhas to deal with various requirements in order to fulfill the needs of the patients who are admitted there. In order to make the various responsibilities effective and manageable, the St. Vincent House has to perform various programs such as employment appraisal program, rewarding the staffs in various opportunities (Ashcroft, 2007). They also have to manage services like the organizing of proper staffs in the proper sector, they have to maintain separate services for men and women so that the patient will not face any difficulty, they have to develop proper management and monitoring services in order to ensure safety and to avoid any unavoidable incident. But the most important among them that the management has to develop is the coordination between the staff and managers (Ashcroft, 2007).They do these things for the welfare of poor people because they just the society be healthy not money.

This is the most effective tool to enhance the growth of any organization. This bond will yield a proper coordination in the management of medicines and even help to select and recruit various new employees with their managing skills. As I am the manager of this Healthcare unit and I have to manage my work with proper responsibility and in an effective manner in order to ensure the growth and dignity of the Healthcare unit (Ashcroft, 2007). It is most important to persuade my staffs and employees to work in an effective manner so that a proper communication system can be developed among all the employees so that the requirements and needs of the patient can be understood and manage effectively (Ashcroft, 2007).

4.2 Evaluate own contribution to the development and implementation of health and social care organizational policy

It is a very complicated and difficult task to manage all the policy of a health and social care organization. While managing the entire task properly and effectively I have observed that I had to face a lot of difficulties relating various governmental rules and regulation especially in a developed country like the United Kingdom for the smooth and proper management of the organization (Stahl, 2004). Various strategies have been appointed by me so that the service users will not have to face any issues when they are staying in this Healthcare unit. The requirement of each and every individual are dealt in a proper manner so as to ensure that the service user is very satisfied with the management (Stahl, 2004).

It is also not an easy task and I have to face various issues in implementing these services properly as the workforce of the St. Vincent House Care Home is lacking proper workforce. Therefore, in order to ensure proper services, I have developed various strategies for selecting staffs and recruiting new employees in the organization (Stahl, 2004). Even I have also implemented various within the organization of the concerned organization. This will enhance the performance of the organization and avoid medical errors. I have also developed various programs for the employees and training facilities for the staffs so that their experience and growth eventually increases (Stahl, 2004). Various things like food, cloth, mat etc these things may some hospitals offer to the poor peoples.

4.3 Make recommendations to develop own contributions to meeting good practice requirements

There is a huge gap for improvements in the health and social care practices. In order to enhance the degree of its efficiency, I have to take major and bold initiatives. Firstly, I have to identify the developmental needs of the care practitioners engaged within the care units. In order to do so, I have to perform the periodic staff appraisal. Not only that, but it is also crucial for me to develop and occasionally gauge the training programs in order to improve the effectiveness of health care workersNo, it’s my work this citation I have used in referencing.

Subsequently, I have to aware the care practitioners regarding the prevailing regulatory requirements related to the discrimination, offering value to the obligations of the service users and conducting a risk assessment, etc in order to enable the good and fair practices during the medication and treatment of the patients (Savage, Chilingerian and Powell, 2005). It is highly necessary for all the care workers within the health care centers to gather appropriate knowledge associated with the code of practices by the general health council. It will help in easy in determining whether the health care units are following the national policies and standards or not. It is integral for the health care personnel of the concerned organization to be updated with the ongoing information and trends related to the health and social care practices (Savage, Chilingerian and Powell, 2005).

Conclusion

I have provided my opinions towards improving my role and responsibilities in order to ensure the development as well as implementation of health and social care policies in a health care organisation. The health and social care practices must be performed effectively as this respective sector is enhancing significantly especially in the United Kingdom. According to the above-mentioned comprehension, it is very clear that if the health care units want to attain growth and development, it is vital for them to maintain the principle of health and social care practices. In this context, this study has successfully covered all the aspects related to the principle of health and social care practices in a health and social care organisation.
